Buddhist nuns plan return visit to NIC

North Idaho College will host two Buddhist nun speaker events again this fall on Sept. 15 and 16 in the Student Union Building on the Coeur d’Alene campus.

Both talks are free, open to the public and hosted by the NIC Cardinal Reads Committee. Food and drinks will be provided.

    “Ask Before You Assume” will be presented by Venerable Thubten Chodron on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Lake Coeur d’Alene Room. The talk will cover the assumptions that keep us from caring and connecting. Discover what happens when we lead with curiosity instead of a “cancel” button.

    “Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” will be presented by Venerable Thubten Chonyi and Venerable Thubten Samten on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from noon to 12:50 p.m. in Driftwood Bay Room. The presentation will look at how our minds jump to assumptions and conclusions — and why that habit can cost us good friendships and a happy mind.
