The Cardinal men’s soccer team scored 4-0 against South Puget Sound Community College.
Adam Talley, starting forward, scored three of the four goals, and Brady Ulen, starting defense, scored one.
The Cardinal’s aggressive forward and prominent defense players kept the majority of the game on South Puget Sound’s side of the field. Within the first half the opposing team’s goalkeeper blocked an upwards of 8 shots, and more than twice that in the second half.
It was a physical game with many fouls, penalty kicks, jersey pulling, and combative moments. The referee gave Cardinal’s midfielder Aaron Crossingham a red card after he went for the ball against opposing team’s Jordan Prince who had to be helped off the field with a leg injury.
Many of the fouls resulted in indirect free kicks, and the one penalty kick that was called resulted in a goal by Talley.
“We played really good,” Talley said, “It was a little sketchy in the start but we pulled it together.”
