Math requirements and prerequisites changing

The math department is experiencing some requirement changes, including prerequisites for required courses.

Starting in the fall 2015 semester the prerequisite for taking Math 123 will change from Math 108 to 025. Math 025 is the current prerequisite for Math 108 and 108 is currently required to take any college-level math course, which includes 123.

Math 123 is contemporary mathematics which covers a variety of topics that are taught to be applied in modern day situations.

Contemporary math is mostly intended for liberal arts majors.  There are other college level math courses tailored for different types of majors as well.

It’s always important to check with an adviser and refer to transfer institution requirements when choosing courses and choosing which math class is the best to take.
