The board chair calls for unity as accreditation is in the air

Chairman Todd Banducci called for unity behind recently elected interim president, Michael Sebaaly. Sebaaly gave a speech at Wednesday evening’s open session, his first official appearance since his selection on Monday.

Sebaaly said, “North Idaho College and our accreditation is important to making sure students, and learners have those opportunities that they need.”

Before Sebaaly’s speech, Mollie Michaud, chair of the Faculty Assembly, said they have no confidence in the Board of Trustees.

Interim President Dr. Lita Burns also shared her concerns about the accreditation of NIC. President Burns said that she addressed the standing of the college’s accreditation during an executive session when the board was considering appointing her to be interim president.

“NWCCU requested an Ad-Hoc report focusing on eligibility requirement nine, governing board.” said President Burns. “Our future lies in the hands of the Board of Trustees.”

Vice President for Student Services, Graydon Stanley, announced at the meeting that Shaun Noel will be the new Director of Athletics and Recreation for the college. Noel will take his position, Dec 6.

The Board of Trustees also tabled electing additional legal counsel to the college.
