Cardinals Cruise by Treasure Valley 95-79
After some time off due to game cancellations, the Cardinals came out with two victories last week. On Monday they played a hard-fought game against Blue Mountain winning 96-95 and on Saturday getting the blowout win against Treasure Valley.
The Cards came out strong against the Chukars starting the game with a 10-0 lead, bringing lots of intensity on both the offensive and defensive end. With a couple three's by Treasure Valley’s Bridger Bumgardner and a tempo shifting and-one, the Chukars got back into the game only down 14-12 early in the first half.
NIC dominated the glass all game long, out rebounding TV 36-21. That combined with their swarming intense defense helped them continue adding to their lead to make it 27-19 after a rim shaking alley-oop by Julius Mims.
Mims had multiple dunks including two back-to-back slams to end the first half, one of them being a transition tomahawk dunk that got the crowd hyped up. He finished the game with 23 points going 11-17 from the field and grabbed 9 rebounds to go along with his dominating offensive performance.
Daniel Santana contributed with stellar defense, hustle, and ferocity coming off the bench and finished with 12 points going an efficient 5-7 from the field and adding four boards to his stat sheet.
The Cards ended the half with a significant 53-35 lead and started the second half right where they left off by controlling the boards and getting easy layups due to their patience and ball movement on the offensive end.
