Pumpkin Chunkin at NIC

Last week on Friday, the Engineering Club unveiled the newest iteration of the pumpkin-throwing trebuchet. In Parking Lot A, dozens of pumpkins were hurled into the air by this NIC’s students’ siege weapon.

Seth, the Engineering Club President, said that designing and building the trebuchet was fairly simple and fun. The most challenging part was “getting everything together, such as getting the funding, finding a place to store it”. He also said that this event was very successful, with four times as many people showing up as last year.

Members of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance also worked to set up a booth where people could decorate their pumpkins. Attendees used paints and craft supplies to design artistic pumpkins before they were smashed into pieces.

Need I explain more?

The engineering students used a customized bag to hold several small pumpkins and fire them at the same time. This launched into a highly successful scattershot that splattered across the parking lot
