ASNIC Board Discusses How to Survive NIC

The Associated Students of NIC (ASNIC) discussed their next big project, “The Student Survival Guide,” in their monthly board meeting this Tuesday. The guide is meant to support students on campus, but also be something entertaining for students to read. The guiding principle for this document is gamification.

Mateo Herrera said that they did this to create “a refreshing take on it that is also engaging.”

It’s estimated to be around 24 pages and 8 chapters, and will be arriving as both a digital and physical publication before next year’s week of welcome.

ASNIC briefly celebrated that NIC remains in good standing with the accreditation board before discussing new business. Senator Rodger Griffin announced that the plan to add a guitar to the student union was nearing completion.

ASNIC is also working with the English club to construct a little free library, preparing for a visit from nuns from Sravasti Abbey, and the upcoming hackathon on March 7th.

Lastly, they discussed the upcoming ASNIC elections, which will be held on March 6th, and the senators plan to table in the SUB to promote student government and get more people involved.
