NIC Students Gather for Cardinal Cruise During Week of Welcome
Ninety-nine North Idaho College students gathered to attend the annual Cardinal Cruise thrown together by the school’s Student Event Board on Thursday.
The ship took off around 6:30pm and took a cruise around Lake Coeur d’Alene, the boarding dock just one short walk across the street from NIC’s campus. Students appeared timid at first but soon warmed up to the atmosphere when DJ Daniel Connelly, NIC Alumni, began his show for the night.
Huylar said, “It is the first week of school that students are the most nervous but also the most likely to put themselves out there.”
As students began to line-dance and mingle, the consensus came to be that most of them were here for the same reason.
“I thought it would be a good way to meet new people,” said Zoe Roberts, a general studies student, sitting in a group of peers she had met just moments ago.
Whether it is attending the Resource Fair, or fun social events like this one, NIC’s Week of Welcome is the time to become acquainted not just with your peers, but also with all of the resources campus has to offer.
Huylar said, “Show up to all the events you can during the week of welcome. At NIC, we have ‘university-style’ resources for a community college price.“
