Trumpeter appears on campus to spread message of faith

A trumpet player appeared on campus on October 12 to spread his religious message.

Richard Jacobson played “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and tried to spread the message that the second coming of the Lord is near.

Jacobson remained in the Coeur d’Alene, Spokane area throughout the weekend and then make his way down to the southern part of the country.

Jacobson, a retired four-year Air Force veteran and computer programmer from Longmont, Colo., has been traveling the world for the last 17 years accompanied by his trumpet and Shofar horn to send out a biblical message.

Jacobson said he believes he is heralding the Second Coming of Christ.

“It’ll be soon,” Jacobson said.

Jacobson said he started his spiritual journey in 1995 in Europe, and then after six years came back to the states to visit all the Ivy League schools to spread the word of the Christ.

“The hearts there are pretty hard towards the gospel; in the states people are more open to the word of the bible,” Jacobson said. “I’m trying to lead the nation back to the Lord.”

Jacobson said he first found Christ when he was 33 years old.

Jacobson originally relied only on donations for a living for 14 years, until he received his pension three years ago.

Jacobson said he intends to travel back to Europe next summer where he plans to stay for the next six years, before he eventually hopes to settle in Israel.

“The second coming will be a good thing for those who are ready and a bad thing for those who are not,” Jacobson said.
