Meet aspiring artist Lily Siebrecht

Published on

Lily Siebrecht, a fine art major, stands next to an image of herself done in black and white watercolors. Her self-portrait, along with another of her watercolors, is part of a student art exhibit called Raising Expectaions, put on by the Aspiring Artists Club  in the SUB. The exhibit will be on display between March 17 and May 2. In the portrait, a palette half covers her face to express that her artwork is the best representation of herself. Besides portraits, she gets most of her inspiration from nature.

She describes herself as always having been “the artsy person” in her class. In high school she did a lot of cartooning, but branched out into watercolor and charcoal during her first year at NIC. Lately she’s been getting into 3-D work with welding and steel. Her favorite watercolor artist is Agnes Cecile, a Youtube speed painter.

Her advice for other artists: “Definitely explore different media, but don’t get too hung up on trying everything. Once you find something you really like, keep at it.”
