NIC celebrates Day of Welcome

Staff and ASNIC Vice President Scott Kennedy hand out free T-shirts at the annual Day of Welcome.

North Idaho College celebrated the Day of Welcome in the SUB last Wednesday.

Day of Welcome, usually an outdoor event because of its large draw of students and faculty, was held in the SUB due to the low air quality which stayed in the unhealthy range for a majority of the day.

The event showcased the many clubs of NIC, while free T-shirts and food provided by the Dining services staff were distributed.

Vice-President of ASNIC Scott Kennedy and Director of Human Resources Don Millikan handed out new T-shirts with staff to a large line inside the SUB.

Every club had their own table, as well as many non-club entities. Employees from Mountain West Bank, University of Idaho, and Lewis and Clark State College engaged with students about their future goals. IT Services and the Molstead Library staff provided information about their services and how they can benefit students.

On campus there are two religious clubs, Campus Alive in Christ and Latter-day Saints Student Association, both of which regularly hold events and mass. Students don’t have to belong to any one religion, but they welcome anyone who’s religious or looking for friends.

Students showcase the Outdoor Pursuits table

Outdoor Pursuits highlighted their field trips for this semester at this event. With trips to Cannon Beach, Oregon and an overnight canoe and kayaking trip in Upper Priest Lake, Idaho, Outdoor Pursuits has a variety of 10 trips and day events to participate in. They also hold free Seminar’s within Mclain Hall on a wide range of topics.
