NIC Volleyball claims victory on home opener

The NIC volleyball team won 25-14, 25-17, 21-25, 25-23 in their home opener against Walla Walla (14-3) on Tuesday, improving the Cardinal’s record to 7-5 on the season.

2017 East Region MVP Kayla Neumann recorded 24 kills to help power the Cards to victory.

“She’s a leader,” head coach Kelsey Stanley said  “When we need someone to put a ball down, everyone knows it’s going to her. Other teams try to key in on her, but she’s so athletic sometimes it doesn’t even help.”

Assistant coach Robin Reese said Hailee Etter, who recorded 16 kills in the victory, plays well paired with Neumann.

“They do a really good job balancing our front line,” Reese said.

Next up for the Cardinals is a game at Bellevue, who beat NIC earlier this season, Thursday, September 13. NIC will return home Friday September 21 vs Blue Mountain.

The full broadcast of the match is available here.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
