Students of NIC: Susanna Mendez

NIC student Susanna Mendez started her first semester of college this year. At 19 years old, she’s a full time student currently studying outdoor recreation leadership.

“I’d like to do something that allows me to work with kids in the outdoors and I think that this will give me some really good skills in order to pursue that,” Mendez said.

Mendez really enjoys the challenges of her outdoor recreation leadership courses and likes that they get to practice real life scenarios.

“Right now we’re doing first responder which is really cool because we get to go on a bunch of camping trips and practice what would happen if we were in a wilderness medical situation. It’s hard but super exciting,” Mendez said.

Mendez currently lives at home and works at the Cardinal Card and Parking office on campus. She hopes to graduate from NIC in spring 2021.
