NIC Women’s soccer beat Wenatchee Valley 3-0 Wednesday to get off to a 1-0 start in conference play.
Autumn Stewart lets out a smile after celebrating a goal she scored late in the game.
The Cards played a smothering defense all game, and limited Wenatchee Valley to just five total shots. Leading the way offensively for the Cards was Berenice Chavez, who scored two goals early in the first half, and Autumn Stewart put the game away with a goal late in the second half.
“We played good for our first conference game,” Coach Kellsi Parson said. “There’s definitely a lot to improve on, but it’s nice to get out of here with a win.”
Members of the NIC men’s wrestling team went shirtless and got loud to cheer on both soccer teams and the volleyball team in their games on Wednesday.
The match was well-attended compared to most NIC soccer matches, and the crowd sported a good amount of energy.
“It was nice having the men’s wrestling team out here cheering for us, and it’s cool to have a big crowd,” Parson said
