Three art students won awards at the Fall 2022 Student Art Show Tuesday night chosen by local art galleries to display their artwork.
The art show took place at the SUB in the Half-Round Bay room.
The winners of the night were Anneliese Slattery, Deborah York, and Zoe Potter.
“It gives me a little bit of hope for being a future artist,” said art student Anneliese Slattery.
As a matter of fact, she incorporates a lot of women, fashion, and architecture into her work.
Her artwork documents her life through oil painting using what she describes as “art deco cubism.”
Slattery has six pieces on display, like an oil on canvas piece named “Silent Movement.”
Linoleum block, oil on wood and canvas, some digital prints and oil, handmade pottery on a separate display, and other types of mediums.
Art student Zoe Potter, picked to display her work at Emerge, has a couple of sculptures and an oil painting on display.
“It’s honestly something I’ve wanted to have done for several years since being more interested and more serious in my art,” Potter said.
In addition, Deborah York has some pieces on display as well.
York said she was excited when she got chosen to display her work at Angels Gallery Fine Arts & Antiques.
In addition, she paints animals like wildlife, kids on a beach, and did a series on homeless men and women.
“It was moving when I would look at those pictures,” York said when talking about her series on the homeless.
York said she painted her series so it would move somebody in a positive manner.
NIC Aspiring Artists Club Vice President Robert Perry announced the winners.
