NIC hosted its fourth annual Fall Choral Invitational Concert this past Tuesday, October 1st in the Schuler Performing Arts Center at Boswell Hall. This event featured choirs from Coeur d’Alene High School, Lake City High School, Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy, Kellogg High School, and NIC’s very own Cardinal Chorale.

Those in attendance heard a wide array of styles and genres from these excellent choirs: everything from Jazz to Classical, from Folksong to Movie Soundtracks. For the final piece of the evening, these ensembles combined to create a Festival Chorus that filled the entire stage. They ended the concert on a high note with Rollo Dilworth’s adaptation of I Sing Because I’m Happy.

Founded by the former Director of Choral Activities, Max J. Mendez, in 2019, the Fall Choral Invitational Festival provides an opportunity for local High School ensembles and their directors to have a non-adjudicated performance early on in the fall semester. This past Festival marks the official debut for NIC’s new Director of Choirs, Cindy Dicken. Stay tuned for District 1 Large Group, which will be hosted at NIC in March of 2025.
