Up to 60 of the hundreds of donors to North Idaho College Foundation assembled at Emery’s Restaurant yesterday afternoon for Lunch with President Swayne as a thank you for their generosity. Along with Emery’s delicious cuisine, they were also introduced to an unnamed benefactor of a recent scholarship who was given the chance to address the group and thank them for their financial help.
Overseeing the event was Rayelle Anderson, of the NIC Foundation who happens to be a donor herself. She highly encourages all students who could use financial assistance to apply for the many scholarships made possible by the Foundation. The process has been made easy for students. To apply simply log in to MyNIC and the first screen that pops up includes the link to the NIC Foundation Scholarship Application. You apply once and that application is submitted to all qualifying scholarships, potentially amounting to significant funds awarded. An incredible number of contributor’s have donated to the NIC Foundation in efforts to improve the quality of education provided at NIC creating over $1,000,000 of scholarship opportunities.
There are seven different donor rankings to the “Honor Roll of Contributors” depending on the size of the donation. The top tier holds familiar names including, but not limited to “Avista Corporation,” “Coeur d’Alene Casino,” “Lockheed Martin Space Systems,” and “STCU” along with so many other “Coeur Society” members who donated $100,000 or more. While members of the “President’s Society” (tier 4) afforded lesser donations of $1,000-$4,999 and included more private donors with only a small handful of businesses such as “Hagadone Media Group,” and the “Coeur d’Alene Garden Club.”
Along with the “Gift Society,” other generous members of our community have found other ways to contribute, even in death. The “In Memory of” list, the “In Honour Of” list and those who have named the NIC Foundation as a beneficiary on their will.
If you or anyone you know wishes to make a donation, you can do so by contacting the NIC Foundation office at 208-769-5978, or online at www.nic.edu/give. We here at The Sentinel would like to thank all of those who have helped make an education at NIC financially possible for those whom it would not be otherwise.
