NIC Volleyball loses thriller to Blue Mountain

The NIC Volleyball team lost in five sets to Blue Mountain CC at Christianson Gymnasium last Friday night. The loss brought their overall record to 14-7, and was their first loss in conference play.

The Cardinals jumped out hot early, easily taking the first set before splitting the next two. Hailee Etter was especially efficient from the serving stripe and in kills, at one point helping the Cards record eight straight points. Unfortunately, the home team ran out of momentum too early, getting beat handily in the fourth set before ultimately bowing in a winner-take-all final set. They lost the final set 15-13.

Coach Kelsey Stanley still saw the positives in the loss, understanding that it is a long season and a close game like that can build a lot of character. “It was a hard loss tonight,” Stanley noted. “I’ll give it to both teams for how hard they battled. All I can ask from the girls is that we learn from this loss and move forward.”

They will be back at home hosting Treasure Valley CC on Saturday, the 29th at 2 p.m.
