NIC volleyball pummels Walla Walla

NIC Volleyball defeated Walla Walla Friday 25-18, 25-19, 25-12 Friday night at Christianson gymnasium.

The Cards started slow and found themselves in a 6-14 hole in the first set.

“We kind of went in thinking that this would be an easy win,” assistant coach Robin Reese said. “It doesn’t matter because we can lose off our own errors, so we have come out and make sure that we play our game every single night and that we are working to get better.”

Cards play hard against Walla Walla.

NIC then rattled off 10 straight points to take 16-14 lead, and never looked back. The only other time the Cards didn’t lead was an 0-1 start in the third set.
Chole Knudson led the way offensively for the Cards with 10 kills followed by Hannah McPhetridge and Taylor Foster with eight a piece. Libero Kynzey Mitzel lead the team in digs with 11 while both Hokulea Vargas and Journey Tupea contributed nine in the victory.

Up next for the Cards (14-3) is a game at Yakima Valley (5-16) on Sept. 27 before returning home to play Wenatchee Valley (1-14) on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
