Tough loss for women’s soccer against Walla Walla

NIC lost to undefeated Walla Walla Wednesday afternoon.

Up 1-0 with 10 minutes left in the game, the Cards looked like the team that could finally put a tally in 10-0-0 Walla Walla’s loss or tie column. Then, in the seventh minute, Walla Walla forward Jessica Maher scored her eighth goal of season to tie the game 1-1.

Just three minutes after Walla Walla tied the game, forward Rylee Simpson scored a goal to seal the game with a final score of 2-1.

NIC wasn’t able to generate many opportunities against a stingy Walla Walla defense, putting up only four shots compared to Walla Walla’s 10

The Cards lone goal came from Sofia Schnepf on an assist by Maya Lewis in the 60th minute.

Up next for the Cards (5-3-2) is a game at Columbia Basin (9-0-1) on Saturday Sept. 28 before returning home to play Spokane (4-2-1) on Saturday Oct. 5 at noon.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
