Men’s soccer outlasts Walla Walla

Jairo Aguirre kicks cross-field to try to generate a shot opportunity.

NIC men’s soccer defeated Walla Walla 1-0 Wednesday night.

NIC generated just one shot in the second half with a goal by Alwayne Anglin, his first of the season, proving to be enough to secure an victory.

The Cards defense played strong, allowing Walla Walla to get off only five shots.

Max Stultz could only watch as sprinklers doused the field in the 83rd minute, stopping play for a short time.

After tying Blue Mountain 1-1, beating Treasure Valley 2-0 last week, and winning against Walla Walla Wednesday, the Cards currently sit in third place in the East with eight games left in the season.

Up next for the Cards (4-3-2) is a game at Columbia Basin (4-3-2) on Saturday Sept. 28 before returning home to play Spokane (6-2-1) on Saturday Oct. 5 at 2:15 p.m.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
