Men’s soccer loses close match to Spokane

NIC men’s soccer lost a close contest to rival Spokane 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

Ben Church attempts a bicycle kick that just misses in NIC’s 1-0 loss against Spokane. NIC men’s soccer has not defeated Spokane since 2018.

Spokane’s lone goal of the match came in the first half off of a Hilario Murillo penalty kick. NIC generated plenty of opportunities, but for the second straight game, just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Spokane outshot NIC 6-5, but NIC had eight corner kicks and a few of their shots bounced off the goalposts.

NIC moves to 0-2 on the season after last week’s game against Whitworth got canceled.

NIC’s plays at Walla Walla Wednesday, April 14 at 4:15 p.m. before returning home to play Blue Mountain Saturday, April 17 at 2:15 p.m.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
