Men’s basketball steamrolls Treasure Valley

The second-ranked NIC men’s basketball team looked as dominant as ever in their 110-63 victory over Treasure Valley Saturday afternoon at Christianson Gymnasium.

Christian Guess delivers a monster dunk late in the second half. Guess has been an unstoppable force for the Cards this season and currently leads the NWAC in points-per-40 minutes with 32.1

The Cards never trailed in their win over a Treasure Valley team that was riding a four game winning streak entering the game.

The Cards outscored Treasure Valley 49-8 in just the final 12 minutes, and turned what could have been a competitive game into a complete thrashing.

NIC’s suffocating defense held the Chukars to just 31 percent shooting in the game, while the Cards scored on 57 percent shooting, including 44 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Christian Guess had a double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds, while also racking up three steals. Joey Naccarato also had a double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds, while Nate Pryor had 17 points on 7-8 shooting.

Up next for the Cards (9-0, 21-1) is a game at Big Bend (2-8, 8-16) Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to play Walla Walla (4-5, 10-11) Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m.

The Cards won their previous match-up against Big Bend 107-74, and also defeated Walla Walla 104-95 in their previous meeting.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
