Former NIC Basketball Player Enters Third Pro Season

Former NIC basketball player Markus Golder is embarking on his third season as a professional player.

In the upcoming season, which tips off March 1, Golder will be suiting up for the Vancouver Volcanoes, a team in “The Basketball League.”

Born in Portland, Oregon, Golder played high school basketball at Clackamas. He then attended North Idaho in 2015 as a redshirt freshman. The following year, he became a starter for the Cardinals, averaging 18.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. NIC finished with a 25-5 record, including a 13-3 mark in Northwest Athletic Conference play, securing the NWAC East Region title.

In 2018, he participated in the inaugural FISU America Games in São Paulo.

He subsequently played for two NCAA Division I colleges, spending his sophomore and junior seasons with the Valparaiso Beacons before transferring to the Portland State Vikings for his senior year. Over the course of those three seasons, he averaged 8.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Following his college career, he went undrafted by the NBA in 2020 and remained unsigned. However, in 2022, he signed with the Vancouver Volcanoes as they entered their inaugural season in “The Basketball League.” He will continue playing for them in their third season.
