Casting call for ‘Time Cop: A Rock and Roll Space Odyssey’

NIC is holding auditions for their fall production, “Time Cop: A Rock and Roll Space Odyssey” on Sept. 8 and 9 at 6 p.m. in Schuler Performing Arts Center.

There are 11 characters, and most parts can be played by either male or female actors. Auditions are open to anyone, including actors that do not attend NIC.

“Time Cop: A Rock and Roll Space Odyssey” is written by NIC student Ty Harrison. The show is about Time Cop, who faces the forces of evil.

“It is about a guy named Time Cop who is pretty full of himself, and his friends, who are the best at what they do,” said Joe Jacoby, NIC instructor and director for the play. “There is a villain named Tools Mckinzie who wants to change time, and it is up to Time Cop to stop his evil plot.”

“It does have some adult language, but it is kind of a snarky little cheesy comedy,” said Jacoby.  “It has that airplaneish flavor of being really straight and serious while you’re saying something that’s kind of silly.”

Rehearsals for the show will begin Sept. 14, and happen every Monday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Larger meetings will be held on Zoom, but smaller groups will work in person at the college when needed for blocking and movement.

“Give yourself permission to be as relaxed as you can and let yourself make mistakes,” said Jacoby, “because really in an audition you can’t make a mistake.”
