ASNIC Moves Forward in Their Action Plan

ASNIC proposed new ideas to add to the Academic Best Practice Action Plan at its Tuesday meeting.

President Damian Maxwell says that student government members are promoting the idea of making Zoom recordings of lectures available to students in most courses. Another suggestion is to add information on a course’s syllabus on where the lectures are available to students.

The committee would also like to change the Division Policy in course syllabi by adding contact information of student representatives available to hear student concerns. Its goal is to make more student voices heard by offering an alternative if a student is uncomfortable talking to the instructor.

ASNIC proposed holding mock interviews with Division Chairs to demonstrate how to bring up a concern. The goal of these interviews is to help students feel more comfortable with expressing concerns and create better communication between faculty and students.

North Idaho College’s student government also addressed the current actions that are being taken to revise the Human Rights Statement.

The passing of a Vote of No Confidence. President Maxwell said that the Board of Trustees has yet to acknowledge this change, and Dr. Swayne will soon resume his position as NIC’s president.
