ASNIC Withdraws Vote of No Confidence

The Associated Students of North Idaho College recently withdrew their previous vote of no confidence at last Wednesday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

“Tonight, the Associated Students of NIC Student Government would like to express its appreciation to the Board of Trustees for acknowledging the votes of no confidence and working to rebuild trust with the constituency groups,” stated ASNIC President Joseph Moran during the meeting.

“We recognize that the board has taken action to resolve our stated concerns with transparency, professionalism and ethical and respectful conduct in its actions… we thank the board for taking steps to address the remaining points of concern from ASNIC’s vote of no confidence.

In response to these circumstances, the ASNIC student government is pleased to state that we hereby withdraw our vote of no confidence against the Board of Trustees.”

This withdrawal serves as a resolution for one of the three non-compliant accreditation standards set by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). As of February 24, North Idaho College has been placed on one year of probation to comply with these NWCCU’s recommendations and improve upon recommendations already in compliance.

NIC has until October of 2025 to resolve the remaining issues, something that NIC President Nick Swayne has expressed the college is “on the right track” to doing.
