From Campus to Career: NIC Launches Student Employment Tool

Jillian Gill from Career Services presents Handshake during the Handshake Launch at NIC’s Sub on Thursday

North Idaho College has partnered with Handshake to connect students with employment opportunities both during their time at college and afterwards.

Handshake is a platform that offers a variety of career resources to students such as events, personalized career guidance, job recommendations and localized job searches.

Jillian Gill, the career services coordinator at NIC, shared why NIC decided to bring Handshake to the students.

“After many requests from employers and students asking about job postings available to them, the decision was made to implement Handshake at North Idaho College.  We were the only college in Idaho not using Handshake, and students at other Idaho higher education institutions have been benefitting from its use for years.”

Gill also stated that bringing Handshake to NIC has been a personal goal in her role at career services.

NIC officially launched the program on Thursday, making it available to students for free. All employers and jobs displayed on the software are vetted by Career Services to ensure safe and wholesome work places.
