New York Musician Plays for NIC

Piano music could be heard throughout Boswell Hall today during a free music event.

“It was a really beautiful concert,” said NIC student Ethan Holmes, “Nocturnes are a really cool form of music.”

Peggy Reich, a pianist from New York played “Nocturnes,” music of the night, for a small crowd in the lobby this afternoon. Holmes was one of the attendees of students and community members who listened as Reich introduced each piece by different composers before performing them.

“I really enjoyed the concert,” said Holmes. “I think they should do free concerts like these more often.”

“I came out here through connections of friends that happened to move here,” Reich said, “I ended up returning here year after year because it’s such a beautiful place to be.”

Marietta Hardy, a music professor at NIC, is friends with Reich and helped to arrange the event here. Reich performs at several venues around the Coeur d’Alene area each year.

“I look forward every year to coming back with a new program,” said Reich.

She will be performing this Friday at 6:30 pm at The Stacey House and Saturday at 7 pm at the Music Conservatory, both located in Coeur d’Alene. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Peggy Reich plans on returning next year to play at NIC again.
