Entertainment Legend ‘Dick Clark’ Died:

Tears were flooding across America as entertainment icon Dick Clark died on April 18 at the age of 82 after suffering a massive heart attack, and ET online had the story.

A statement from Clark’s rep issued on behalf of his family said Clark had entered St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica Tuesday night for an outpatient procedure. Attempts to resuscitate him following the heart attack were not successful.

The famous host of American Bandstand – which helped bring rock ‘n’ roll into the mainstream — is survived by his wife Kari and his three children, Duane, Cindy and RAC.

Clark hosted and produced a vast range of programming from game shows to the annual year-end countdown show New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Dubbed “the world’s oldest teenager” because of his lasting youthful appearance, Clark had continued to make TV appearances in recent years despite suffering a stroke in 2004 that affected his ability to speak and walk.

Clark was born in Mount Vernon, NY, on November 30, 1929. The prolific television host and producer began his entertainment career at the age of 17 as an announcer for a local radio station. The young Clark’s charm and charisma led him to a job as a disc jockey for WFIL in Philadelphia.

Clark was later given the opportunity to serve as a substitute host for the affiliated television station’s rock n’ roll dance program, Bob Horn’s Bandstand, in 1952. When host Bob Horn left the program in 1956, Clark was chosen to host the show full-time. One year later, ABC picked up the show, it was renamed American Bandstand, and was aired nationally on August 5, 1957, with special guest, Elvis Presley. Clark continued his work on Bandstand until 1989.

His first Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special aired in 1972. At the end of 2004, Regis Philbin substituted as host for the evening after Clark suffered a stroke weeks before the event. Clark returned to the show the following year, where he shared hosting duties with Ryan Seacrest, something he would do from that year forward.

In 1993, Clark was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame. He also produced The American Music Awards, which he created in 1974. He was also executive producer of the NBC family drama American Dreams.

After the news spread about Clark’s death, American Idol began to scramble to do a tribute session to Dick Clark on the April 18 show.

Zach Efron Caught With a Handful:

On April 9, Hollywood heartthrob Zach Efron was photographed with a ‘handful’ in his pants as he was staying in a swanky hotel in Sydney’s harbor to promote his new movie “The Lucky One.”

While out on his hotel balcony setting the table for his breakfast, Efron was caught with his hands in his pants. He was “petting his puppy” or just “rearranging his junk” and the paparazzi were snapping many photos.

Joan Rivers from Fashion Police on E! stated that Efron was just having a healthy breakfast with “Orange juice, fresh fruit, and NUTS!”

This isn’t the first scandal Efron has been tied up in, as he recently dropped a condom on the red carpet of the “Lorax” premier on Feb. 19.

Brad And Angelina Announce Engagement:

On April 13, the celebrity world is abuzz with sudden news that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finally, officially plan to tie the knot. The A-list couple has famously dodged the marriage question time and time again.

A rep for Brad told ET on April 13 that while no wedding date has been set, the engagement represents “a promise for the future.” The rep added that “their kids are very happy” and confirmed that Brad did indeed design the engagement ring himself, reported to be worth more than $1 million.

Middleton Sister in ‘Royal Trouble’ After a Gun Scandal:

Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa could be in hot water after a male companion she was traveling with allegedly brandished a gun and pointed it at the paparazzi in Paris on April 14.

London’s “The Sun” reports that on Sunday the sister-in-law of England’s presumptive future king was in the passenger seat of an Audi convertible when her male companion driver allegedly, jokingly aimed a semi-automatic gun at a paparazzi  who was tailing them. The moment was caught on film by the French photographer/target, who may file a formal police complaint. Two other men were also in the car with Pippa at the time.

The Sun says that Pippa is “facing a grilling by outraged cops” over the incident as the country remains especially sensitive following a series of gun massacres across France. A source tells the paper that charges could result in prison sentences of up to seven years for all four people in the car, or a two-year sentence if the gun turns out to be a fake.

Pippa was reportedly in Paris to attend a costume birthday party as a guest of fashion label owner Arthur de Soultrait, who was one of the passengers in the car during the gun-brandishing incident.

Signing off for good…you know you dig me!
