Water Lantern Festival Serving a Purpose for the Community

POST FALLS—The Water Lantern Festival, organized by One World LLC, came to Post Fall’s Q’emiln Park Saturday night for an event of live music, a scavenger hunt, and most of all, community engagement.

“I love taking my daughter to events like these,” said Miranda Casey from Spokane. “Everyone is so excited. It’s nice we can all do something together.”

On the shoreline of Q’emiln Park before sunset Saturday, Sept. 7.

Everyone who purchased a lantern was able to decorate them. T atahe stage was given to those who wanted to share the story behind their lantern. Several people dedicated theirs to deceased loved ones.

Allen Demson, visiting the Pacific Northwest, decorated his in honor of a sister who committed suicide last year.

“It’s been a difficult year, but now I can give her this. It means the world to me. It would’ve meant the same to her, if she had been here. I imagined us coming to this thing together, so here I am trying to bring her back.”

Minutes before the launch at sunset, a guided meditation was played, encouraging everyone to breath together and respect one another.

One World LLC has been hosting festivals across the U.S. since 2018. In the words of pre-recorded statement from One World LLC before the launch, “We believe life is truly beautiful.”
