Women’s soccer comes out on top against Treasure Valley

NIC women’s soccer pulled out a much needed 2-0 win over Treasure Valley Friday.

Sophia Schnepf led offense, scoring both of the Cardinal’s goals within minutes of each other.

Kaysha Bailey racked up a whopping seven saves in the match, and increased her save percentage to .878, good for fifth place among NWAC goalies.

With only six games left in the season, the Cards find themselves two places out of the final playoff spot. NIC, Yakima Valley, Spokane and Columbia Basin find themselves in close standing with each other for the second and third playoff spots behind Walla Walla, and will likely be battling for positions until the last game of the season.

Up next for the Cards (4-3-1, 6-4-3) is a home match against Blue Mountain (0-7-1, 1-8-1) Saturday Oct. 12 at noon. The Cardinals blew out Blue Mountain 7-0 last month.

Just a dumb guy that enjoys sports. I'm pretty hard to miss with my long hair and New York Giants beanie, and you can normally spot me at most NIC home games with a befuddled look and a large camera pressed up against my face. If you happen to spot me don't be afraid to say hello. I'm usually down to talk about NIC athletics or sports in general. Wear a mask, please. I want sports back.
