Men’s Soccer ends the weekend stong

The NIC Men’s Soccer team played their home opener over the weekend, facing off against Treasure Valley on Friday and Blue Mountain Community College on Saturday afternoon.

The Cards tied TVCC 1-1 on Friday night, getting their goal from freshman forward Mac Stultz on a finish from inside the box after an assist from freshman Noah Dreves. The goal came in the 49th minute, answering Treasure Valley’s penalty kick goal in the 24th minute in the first half.

Saturday presented another opportunity for the team as they hosted another faltering team in Blue Mountain. This time the Cardinals took care of business, soundly winning 2-0. Freshman goalkeeper Isaiah Damschen picked up a clean sheet, saving all seven shots he was given. Freshman Zach Bowskey opened the scoring early in the second half, taking advantage of a rebound opportunity. Sophomore Josh Greer put the game to bed in the 81st minute with a free kick from 20+ yards out. The effort would reward the Cards with three points and an early second-place standing in the East Region.

NIC will host Wenatchee Valley College at 2:15 on Saturday, looking to defend home turf and pick up another win at Eisenwinter Field.
